Kneedelus: Kneebody & Daedelus
vrijdag 8-7    Darling 23:00

Never a dull moment!

Kneedelus: Kneebody & Daedelus
Friday 8-7 Darling 23: 00
(Also 7-7 Gent Jazz Festival)

Funky jazz, with irregular rhythms and unexpected turns have always been the trademark of Kneebody. With Daedelus there is more electro beat added. Never a dull moment!
”Kneedelus’ the cooperation between the beat scientist from California and the funk jazz quintet Kneebody is called. They’ve known each other for a long time*.
With Kneedelus they are researching the combination of electronic and acoustic playing. A fusion with great potential! Abstract hip hop blends seamlessly with modern funk jazz here – and it is sometimes difficult to determine where Kneebody ends and Daedelus begins.

Kneebody has developed it’s own musical style, and their longlasting co-operation and the fun they have with it ensures that everything they play sounds very flexible and easy – while the music occasionally is quite complex. Even so, this mix will surely appeal to all lovers of funk jazz, electronic music, progressive rock and contemporary music.

daedelus* Groundbreaking is the collaboration between the five-piece funk jazz group Kneebody and electronic solo artist Daedelus. That collaboration is rooted in a high school in southern California. So these opiniated musicians got to know each other at a young age. Both Kneebody as Daedelus became very succesfull with a Grammy nomination for Kneebody as highest achievement, but after some collaborations on a smaller scale, there now made an entire album together: Kneedelus. This album is a fascinating, quirky instrumental journey through rock, jazz, funk, classical and electronics. Recorded together, then in the studio once again finished by Daedelus, with groundbreaking results. On stage, these two worlds come together again: Kneebody’s instrumental funk jazz and the electronics of veteran Daedelus. The result proves to be intensely energetic.
