Processng emotions in music

Pianist, composer and band leader Philipp Rüttgers believes he belongs to ‘generation Y’, living in a world of trouble, frustrations and uncertainties (the gap between poor and rich, the environment, etc). On the other hand, fortunately, things like empathy and joy of life also exist 🙂
Philipp Rüttgers wants to deal with this an tries to express emotions in the daily world trough his music.

He incorporated different emotions in his music: each composition tells a story without words.
With titles like Rage, Ambiguous Times, Changing Landscapes, the compositions have their say about world politics, sustainability and Phil’s Music Laboratory makes a bow for mother nature.

On this (second) album of his ensemble there are ten pieces of varying character and color: from intense, firm and powerful to open and poetic; from gloomy, angry and agitated to hopeful.
All in beautiful arrangements for the firmly sounding septet with 4 horns.
It’s music though: there is no text, there are no words to express the intended emotions. But in terms of atmosphere, it reaches far. There is a serene sounding Chorale 1; an agitated and doomy Brain Prison; an irregular bouncing Story of Squares and Points 1; modern jazz in Ambiguous Times.

Probo made art drawings from all the Songtitles.
