Een nieuwe aflevering van de serie ‘1 track only’, waarbij van een aantal recente verschenen CD’s een korte indruk wordt gegeven, en het begrip ‘1 track’ niet helemaal letterlijk genomen hoeft te worden. Dit keer met modern creative jazz van Tineke Postma & Greg Osby; fusion van Jeroen van Helsdingen, verfijnde countryjazz van Tim Langedijk en hardbop van Eric Ineke

Sonic Halo, Tineke Postma & Greg Osby
Melodieus, maar ook abstract

Het is een verrassende combinatie, de nieuwe groep van de saxofoniste Tineke Postma (1978) en haar beroemde Amerikaanse collega Greg Osby (1960). 
Tineke Postma heeft de afgelopen jaren veel op internationaal niveau gewerkt, bijvoorbeeld met drumster Terri Lyne Carrington, maar ook met Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, Geri Allen, Lizz Wright Greg Osby ontmoette ze in 2007 tijdens een tournee in Mexico.  Ze maakten samen het album Sonic Halo, dat dit jaar door Challenge Records werd uitgebracht. Tot stand gekomen met behulp van crowdfunding!
Daar staan eigen composities op waarin de meer intuïtieve en melodieuze Europese aanpak van Postma  contrasteert met de wat abstractere en technischer benadering van Osby. Postma en Osby spelen allebei alt- en sopraansax op deze plaat. Met verder Linda Oh – bas, Matt Mitchell – toetsen en Dan Weiss – drums

Fusion
Veel afgewogen jazzrock op deze cd van Jeroen van Helsdingen (piano/synths),Marco van Os (bas/vocals) & guests. 
De inspiratie ligt bij fusion groepen als Weather Report, The Yellowjackets en Steps Ahead en musici Herbie Hancock en Pat Matheny.
Jeroen van Helsdingen (1962) studeerde piano aan het Haags conservatorium en won verschillende jazzprijzen. Hij maakt deel uit van The Obsessions, de huisband van het Radio6 jazzprogramma Mijke & Co Live, en maakte eerder platen met EGO.
Marco van Os (1972) studeerde lichte muziek aan het conservatorium en is docent contrabas en basgitaar. Hij is bekend van Daayra en People You Know.
Er doen nogal wat gasten mee op deze plaat, w.o. Teus Nobel- trompet, Toon Roos – Sax en Peter Tiehuis – gitaar.


Açenja van Tim Langedijk trio (The Sand records)

Gitarist Tim Langedijk houdt van mooie melodische lijnen en subtiele harmonieën en hij zoekt ook naar intrigerende soundscapes. Resultaat is een soort rustige countryrock-jazz, lekker gespeeld door hemzelf, drummer Hans van Oosterhout en bassist Udo Pannekeet.
Langedijk studeerde cum laude af aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium. Hij begon zijn trio in 2006. Naast zijn trio doet hij studiowerk en arrangeren. Met verschillende groepen tourde hij door heel Europa. Hedendaagse jazz die zich vertakt naar fusion en country, het is allemaal mogelijk met Langedijk, maar altijd met een mooie toon en verfijnde bewegingen. Hij speelde met Jasper van ’t Hof, Adam Nussbaum, Tommy Smith. Momenteel is hij ook docent aan het Conservatorium van Haarlem.

Bandleider, solist, jazzdrummer: Eric Ineke is het allemaal. Al sinds de jaren zestig speelt hij met grote musici, w.o. Dizzy Gillespie en Dexter Gordon. In 2012 schreef hij The Ultimate Sideman, een boek over al zijn muzikale samenwerkingen sinds de jaren zestig. Ondertussen is Eric Ineke nog steeds bezig met zijn Eric Ineke JazzXpress, een hardbop kwintet, dat bestaat sinds 2006.  Drie generaties jazzmusic in 1 line up. Inmiddels heeft de JazzXpress drie albums en optredens op vele internationale festivals op zijn naam staan. Zijn eigen quintet bestaat vanaf 2006. Met daarin Rik Mol op trompet en bueghel, Sjoerd Dijkhuizen op tenorsaxofoon, Rob van Bavel op piano, Marius Beets op contrabas. De carrière van Eric Ineke (Haarlem, 1947) als jazz-drummer begon in de jaren ‘60. In 1969 maakte hij zijn eerste plaat met tenorsaxofonist Ferdinand Povel en door de jaren heen heeft hij gespeeld met het Rob Agerbeek Quintet, het Rein de Graaff / Dick Vennik Quartet, het Ben van den Dungen / Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet en het Piet Noordijk Kwartet. Tijdens zijn carrière heeft hij ook gespeeld met tal van internationale, voornamelijk Amerikaanse solisten als Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Shirley Horn, Dizzy Gillespie en Dave Liebman.

Tineke Postma has worked at an international level in recent years, ao with drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, bassplayer/vocalist Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, Geri Allen, Lizz Wright. She met Greg Osby in 2007 during a tour in Mexico. Sophisticated country rock jazz
Tim Langedijk trioGuitarist Tim Langedijk likes beautiful melodic lines and subtle harmonies and he’s also in search for intriguing soundscapes. The result is a kind of quiet country-rock-jazz, played nicely by himself, drummer Hans van Oosterhout and bassist Udo Pannekeet.
Langedijk (1984) graduated cum laude at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He started his trio in 2006. Besides his trio he does studiowork and arranging. With different groups he toured throughout Europe. Contemporary jazz that branches out into fusion and country, it’s all possible with Langedijk, yet always with a lovely tone and refined movements. He played with Jasper van ’t Hof, Adam Nussbaum, Tommy Smith. Currently he’s teaching at the Haarlem Conservatory.

Cruisin, The Eric Ineke Jazzxpress (Challenge Records International)
Band leader, soloist, jazz drummer, Eric Ineke’s does it all. He has been playing with great musicians since the sixties, ao Dizzy Gillespie and Dexter Gordon. In 2012 he wrote The Ultimate Sideman, a book about his musical parnerships since the sixties. Meanwhile, Eric Ineke stays busy with his Eric Ineke Jazz Xpress, a hard bop quintet, which has existed since 2006. Three generations of jazzmusicians in one line up. The Jazz Xpress released three albums and performed at many international festivals.

The Eric Ineke JazzXpress  consists of Rik Mol on trumpet and flugelhorn, Sjoerd Dijkhuizen on tenorsaxophone, Rob van Bavel on piano, Marius Beets on doublebass and Eric Ineke on drums.
The repertoire is rooted in the hard-bop tradition and the most compositions are written by the bandmembers themselves.
Eric Ineke (born Haarlem, April 1, 1947) is a Dutch jazz drummer who started his career in the 1960s. In 1969 he made his first record with tenor saxophonist Ferdinand Povel and through the years he has played with the Rob Agerbeek Quintet, the Rein de Graaff/Dick Vennik Quartet, the Ben van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet and the Piet Noordijk Quartet.
